An erect lithophytic herb with a very short stem. Leaves 7–9, arranged in a fan, coriaceous, suberect, ligulate, rounded at unequally bilobed apex, 22–55 cm long, 3.5–5.5 cm wide, dark green, keeled on lower surface. Inflorescence erect, 3- to 7-flowered, 30–45 cm long; peduncle 20–30 cm long; bracts large, elliptic, acute, up to 5.2 cm long, pale yellow-green, veined with purple. Flowers appearing deformed, pale yellow to yellowish-green; dorsal sepal with brownish purple lines; petals spotted with red-maroon; lip yellow or white flushed pale to darker red-brown with purplish veins; staminode yellow with marginal brown hairs; pedicel and ovary up to 4.5 cm long, brown-maroon. Dorsal sepal ovate, acute or acuminate, 2.5–5.5 cm long, 2.4–2.6 cm wide. Synsepal ovate, acuminate, 2.5–5.5 cm long, c. 2.2 cm wide. Petals deflexed, contorted-twisted, linear-tapering, obtuse, oncetwisted in apical half, 8–9 cm long, 0.7–0.9 cm wide. Lip apically broad but rather pointed in side view, 4–5 cm long, 1.5–1.8 cm wide. Staminode geniculate, subquadrate in front view, 8 mm long, 8–9 mm across, pilose on each side, not covering anthers on each side of stigmatic stalk.
