A lithophytic herb of one or two growths. Leaves 4–5, arcuate-pendent, linear, obliquely roundly or obtusely bilobed at apex, up to 45 cm long, 5.3 cm wide, shiny, green, apical leaf reduced to a sterile bract at base of peduncle. Inflorescence horizontal or slightly ascending, 2–5- flowered; peduncle purple or red-brown, with short purple hairs, 8–14 cm long, 3–4 mm in diameter; bracts elliptic-lanceolate, obtuse, 3.3–5 cm long,, 1.4-1.6 cm broad, red-brown with darker veins, ciliate on margins and mid-vein. Flowers c. 7 cm across, up to 95 cm long; sepals yellow striped with maroon; petals off-white to creamy yellow, spotted maroon in basal half, purple above; lip yellow flushed and veined brown; staminode yellow; pedicel and ovary 3.4–7 cm long, white or cream, purple-pubescent. Dorsal sepal lanceolate, acuminate, slightly concave, 4.2–6.5 cm long, 1.2–2.5 cm wide, purplepubescent on outer surface. Synsepal lanceolate, acuminate, 3.4–6 cm long, 1–1.5 cm wide, two-keeled, purple-pubescent on outer surface. Petals ribbon-like, pendent, tapering to apex, linear-tapering, undulate and twisted, 23–90 cm long, 0.5–0.9 cm wide, with maroon warts on basal margins, ciliate in basal half, minutely glandular pubescent at apex. Lip subporrect, pointed at apex, 4–5 cm long, 1.3–2.5 cm wide; side-lobes incurved, very short, subacute. Staminode convex, oblong-trullate, emarginate or obscurely tridenticulate at apex, 10–13 mm long, 6–9 mm wide, pubescent on basal and side margins.
