A terrestrial herb 30-45 cm tall. Stems erect, stout, glabrous or rarely pubescent. Leaves six, the lowermost ones reduced to sheaths, the upper three elliptic to obovate, shortly acuminate, 8-17.3 cm long, 4.5-11.5 cm wide, ciliolate, glabrous on both surfaces. Inflorescence one- or rarely two-flowered; peduncle pubescent below bract; bract leaf-like, elliptic to ovate, acuminate, 7-12..7 cm long, 2.4-7.8 cm wide. Flower large, showy, pale yellow to rose with maroon venation on the sepals and petals and a pale yellow lip spotted with maroon, unpleasantly scented; ovary 2.2-3 cm long, reddish glandular-pubescent. Dorsal sepal ovate, acuminate, 4.7-6.6 cm long, 2.3-3.5 cm wide, margins sometimes undulate; synsepal elliptic-ovate, acuminate and bifid at the apex, 4-6.4 cm long, 1-2.9 cm wide. Petals linear-tapering, acuminate, 5.8-7.1 cm long, 1-1.5 cm wide, ciliate, pubescent in basal half of inner side, untwisted or twisted. Lip deeply saccate and inflated, 4-7.3 cm long, with a toothed margin to the mouth. Column 1.3-1.5 cm long; staminode oblong, obtuse, 1.3-2 cm long, 0.7-1.3 cm wide, with the side margins somewhat incurved.
