A lithophytic herb of one or two growths. Leaves 4–7, narrowly oblong or oblongelliptic, obtuse or rounded at apex, 16–24 cm long, 3–5 cm wide, green above, heavily purple-spotted in bands beneath, ciliate all along margins. Inflorescence many-flowered; peduncle 15–20 cm long, purple, finely pubescent; rhachis with internodes up to 3 cm long; bracts elliptic, obtuse, 1–1.7 cm long, green, spotted with purple, ciliate. Flowers 8–11 cm across; dorsal sepal cream or white with a green centre; synsepal yellow-green; petals cream spotted with purple; lip pink-purple, spotted with darker purple, with a pale yellow margin; staminode green, flushed dark maroon; pedicel and ovary 3–5 cm long, purple, pubescent. Dorsal sepal ovate, obtuse, 2.8–3.8 cm long, 2.4–4.4 cm wide, ciliate, purplepubescent on back. Synsepal elliptic, truncate, 2.9–3 cm long, 2.2-2.5 cm wide, purple-pubescent on back, ciliate. Petals more or less horizontal, slightly reflexed, linear, obtuse, 4–5.3 cm long, 0.7–1.4 cm wide, twisted in apical half, ciliate. Lip bulbously inflated towards apex, 4–5 cm long, 2.3–2.8 cm wide. Staminode convex, ovate-subquadrate, subacute to shortly apiculate, 10–11 mm long, 9–10 mm wide; pubescent at base. 2n = 32.
