A lithophytic herb of 1–3 growths. Leaves 4–6, narrowly oblong-elliptic to loriform, obtuse or rounded, 20–28.5 cm long, 4.5–5.3 cm wide, ciliate on basal margins, glaucous, scarcely mottled when young. Inflorescence up to 20- or more-flowered; peduncle 15–20 cm long, green, heavily mottled purple, pubescent; rhachis with internodes up to 5 cm long; bracts elliptic, obtuse, 1.5–1.8 cm long, green, ciliate. Flowers produced in succession, never more than two open at a time, 8–8.5 cm across; dorsal sepal white or cream, yellow-green in centre, flushed maroon on veins; petals white, spotted with purple; lip pink-purple, finely spotted with darker purple, margins pale yellow; staminode green, flushed purple in apical half; pedicel and ovary 4.5–6 cm long, shortly pubescent, green, flushed dull maroon. Dorsal sepal ovate to broad, ovate, obtuse to emarginate, 2.8–3.3 cm long, 3–3.2 cm wide, pubescent on outer surface, shortly ciliate. Synsepal ovate, obtuse, 2.6–3.2 cm long, 1.5–1.8 cm wide. Petals deflexed at an angle of 10–20° below horizontal, linear, subacute, 4.4–5 cm long, 0.9 cm wide, twisted in apical half, long-ciliate, pubescent at base. Lip not markedly inflated towards apex, 4–4.1 cm long, 2 cm wide, pubescent at base. Staminode ovate, obtuse, 10–15 mm long, 7–9 mm wide. 2n = 36, 37.
