A terrestrial or rarely subepiphytic herb with clustered growths. Leaves 4–6, narrowly elliptic, acute or subacute and minutely tridenticulate at apex, 10–14 cm long, 2.5–3.5 cm wide, obscurely tessellated with dull, dark and light bluish green on upper surface, sparsely ciliate on basal margins. Inflorescence 1-flowered; peduncle 20-28 cm long, pale purple, pubescent; bract ovate, 1.4–2.4 cm long, green, pubescent. Flower with white sepals, veined with green and purple, white petals with a purple flush especially towards the apex, veined with green and with black-spots on margins and along centre, and an ochre to green lip flushed with purple; ovary 3.6–6.6 cm long, green flushed with dull purple towards apex, pubescent. Dorsal sepal broadly ovate, obtuse, 4–6 cm long, 3–4 cm wide. Synsepal concave, elliptic, 2.8–3 cm long, 1.2–2 cm wide. Petals deflexed at about 40 degrees from horizontal, somewhat sigmoid, ligulate but somewhat dilated towards apex, obtuse, 4.6–6 cm long, 1–1.4 cm wide, ciliate, with black-warted on margins, apical margin reflexed in apical half. Lip 4.5–5 cm long, 2.3–2.8 cm wide, ciliate on apical margin; side-lobes incurved, warted. Column 6 mm long. Staminode obovate, auriculate and somewhat angled at base, apically three-toothed with elongate falcate side-teeth, 8–10 mm long, 7–10 mm wide, ochre-green with darker veins, pubescent. 2n = 36.
