A dwarf creeping terrestrial herb with a slender elongate subterranean rhizome, to 7 cm long, 1.5 mm in diameter, bearing scattered occasional slender roots, forming large colonies. Stems short, erect, subterranean, bifoliate, 1.6-3 cm long, covered by two sheaths. Leaves spreading or suberect, elliptic, obtuse to shortly apiculate, 5-6.5 cm long, 2.2-2.7 cm wide. Inflorescence erect, 7-8 cm long, one-flowered, ebracteate. Flower small, held clear of the leaves, greenish or reddish with brown stripes, with a golden yellow lip, and a noxious aromatic scent; pedicel slender, 4.5-5 cm long, sparsely pubescent; ovary 0.9-1.1 mm long, sparsely pubescent on ridges. Dorsal sepal elliptic or ovate-elliptic, shortly apiculate or acute, 1.3-2.1 cm long, 0.8-1 cm wide, glabrous; synsepal elliptic to elliptic-ovate, obtuse or shortly apiculate, 1.4-1.8 cm long, 0.8-1 cm wide, glabrous. Petals curved forwards, sometjmes clasping the lip, obliquely oblong, acute, 1.4-1.8 cm long, 0.4-0.7 cm wide, glabrous. Lip small, circular from above, dorsiventrally flatted, glossy-waxy, 1.1-1.4 cm long, usually ornamented in front with tubercles. Staminode elliptic-oblong, rounded at apex, 6 mm long, 4 mm wide, minutely papillose.
