A dwarf terrestrial herb with a slender, creeping subterranean rhizome. Stems erect, well-spaced on rhizome, 5-7 cm long, subtended by two to three, acute to obtuse sheaths, bifoliate at apex. Leaves spreading, opposite, ovate, acute or obtuse, 4-4.5 cm long, 3-3.6 cm wide, glabrous, unspotted. Inflorescence one-flowered; peduncle slender, possibly arcuate, 4-6 cm long, pubescent; bract lanceolate, acute, 1.2-1.6 cm long, 0.3-0.4 cm wide. Flowers small, nodding, red-flushed or deep purple with a paler lip; pedicel very short; ovary 4 mm long, densely covered by short glandular hairs. Dorsal sepal lanceolate, acute to acuminate, 1.6-1.7 cm long, 0.4 cm wide, glabrous; synsepaI similar but bifid at apex, 1.5 cm long, 0.5 cm wide, glabrous. Petals lanceolate, acute to acuminate, 1.4-1.5 cm long, 0.5 cm wide. Lip porrect, saccate, 0.9-1.1 cm long, glabrous on outside, the incurved side lobes oblong to subelliptic. Column 0.4 cm long; staminode lanceolate-ovate, acute, 0.3 cm long.
