In July 2011, just before the school summer holidays, Lauren Gardiner and I spent a day at the Writhlington Orchid Project, at Writhlington School near Radstock in Somerset. A' Level biology students and members of the Orchid Project joined two sessions of key testing. Using plants from the Orchid Project collections, as well as life-size prints of scanned herbarium specimens, students worked their way through a draft version of the emonocot interactive key to slipper orchids that has been created using Lucid 3.5 software.
